World indoor and outdoor champion Yarisley Silva will face silver medallist Fabiana Murer, bronze medallist Nikoleta Kiriakopolou, plus Holly Bradshaw, Silke Spiegelburg and leading Swedes Angelica Bengtsson and Michaela Meijer. Coe and Radcliffe among guests at Dubai MarathonIAAF president Sebastian Coe and world marathon record-holder Paula Radcliffe will be among the special guests at the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, informs event organisers. Coe has accepted an invitation to help present the prizes while Radcliffe will be providing commentary on the elite races. Around 30,000 runners are expected to take to the streets across all events. Steel sets sights on European HalfGemma Steel is targeting the half-marathon at the European Championships in Amsterdam on the road to the Rio Olympics where she is aiming to make the 10,000m team, reports European Athletics. Against them is due to be two world champions, from 2007 Donald Thomas of Bahamas and from 2011 USA’s Jesse Williams. Briton Robbie Grabarz is a 2012 Olympic medallist and Trevor Barry of Bahamas a world medallist from 2011. The second leg of the tour in Trinec on February 7 will have as top entries 2014 European medallist Andriy Protsenko from Ukraine and Poland’s 2009 world medalist Sylwester Bednarek. Australian athletes for World IndoorsWorld long jump silver medallist Fabrice Lapierre is among the initial wave of Australian selections for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland along with Michelle Jenneke (60m hurdles), Nicholas Hough (60m hurdles) and Collis Birmingham (3000m), informs Athletics Australia. The qualification period closes on March 7, with Athletics Australia selectors to confirm the complete team in the week commencing March 8.
