Full GB team for European Junior Championships namedPublished by
Following first wave selections, a further 22 athletes have been added to the Great Britain team for SwedenA total of 55 athletes will represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the European Junior Championships in Eskilstuna, Sweden, from July 16-19. Following the first wave of selections announced last month, twin sisters Laviai and Lina Nielsen have been added to the team and join fellow sprinters Cheriece and Shannon Hylton in becoming the first double set of twins to represent GB at the same competition. Laviai Nielsen (pictured), who tops the European junior 400m rankings this season with her 52.25 clocked in May, ran 52.96 and 53.01 at the Sainsbury’s British Championships at the weekend, finishing fifth in the final. Lina Nielsen currently sits fourth in the rankings after her 53.38 PB performance in Mannheim just over a week ago. British junior pole vault record-holder Adam Hague joins 2013 world youth gold medallist Harry Coppell and Charlie Myers on the team, while Reuben Arthur has claimed a men’s 100m spot along with Joseph Dewar and Ojie Edoburun, who tops the European junior rankings with 10.25 and bagged bronze at the recent British Championships.
