The corporate running challenge returns in 2015 with Seeing is Believing the official race beneficiary

Multiple Paralympic and world medallist Libby Clegg and five-time Paralympic champion Noel Thatcher have been named as race ambassadors for the Standard Chartered Great City Race along with triple jump world record-holder and Olympic gold medallist Jonathan Edwards.

On Monday the trio launched the race ambassador team for the July 9 event in the British capital. The launch event highlighted the cause of the official race beneficiary, Seeing is Believing, which aims to tackle avoidable blindness throughout the world.

The Standard Chartered Great City Race is a 5km corporate running challenge which takes place around closed streets of the City of London. Over 5000 runners from 350 companies are set to take part in this year’s event, with 10 from every entry fee going towards Seeing is Believing. In 2015 the charity aims to raise over 100,000 for the East Africa Child Eye Health project.

“This year we have a great team of ambassadors led by Jonathan Edwards and with their help we will continue to make a difference to thousands of people’s lives through Seeing is Believing,” said Standard Chartered Bank CEO Europe, Richard Holmes, who was among those to get involved with experiencing blind running at the launch event.
