Adam Gemili part of strong sprint fields at BIG

Bedford International Games action returns on Sunday with Adam Gemili, Ashleigh Nelson, Jack Green and Zane Duquemin among those set to compete

The popular Bedford International Games has been concertinaed into just a single day this year but the meeting on Sunday (May 31) has again attracted a plethora of sprinters led by Adam Gemili and Chris Clarke.

Deji Tobais and Andrew Robinson are also entered while Clarke, who ran 20.22 for 200m here in 2013, will face sub-21 men Antonio Infantino, Nigel Levine and Kieran Showler-Davis.

Ashleigh Nelson is in the women s 100m, seeking to improve on her 11.58 from Manchester, while Montell Douglas makes her first appearance of the season. There are Paralympic events from 100m to 1500m and Sophie Hahn looks the pick of the T38 sprinters.

After tackling windy conditions in the UK Women s League, Joey Duck will be hoping for better in the 200m where Hannah Brier will be pushing. Amy Alcock, Laura Maddox and Victoria Ohuruogu look the pick of the 400m entries. Jack Green and Richard Yates are entered for the 400m hurdles.

As befits a meeting organised by coach Carol Jackson, the high jump fan will see Isobel Pooley in action after her 1.91m in Doha, as Bethan Partridge, who set a PB of 1.85m in Loughborough, will hope to challenge. Robbie Grabarz continues his rehabilitation against Loughborough winner Matt Roberts and Swede Jakob Thorvaldsson.

Nathan Douglas, who leaped 16.65m here last year, goes again in the triple jump. Zane Duquemin is down for the shot and discus where he will face Dan Greaves.

Under-17 men Jake Norris and George Marwell head the hammer entries, Sophie McKinna heads the women s shot and Sarah Holt and Shaunagh Brown go in the women s hammer.
