Olympic heptathlon champion due to continue her comeback by doubling up at the Loughborough International Athletics meeting on May 17

Jess Ennis-Hill is set to double up and contest the long jump and javelin at the Loughborough International Athletics (LIA) meeting on May 17.

The Olympic heptathlon champion made her return to competitive action after almost two years out in Manchester on Saturday when she finished third with a time of 13.14 in the 100m hurdles at the Athletics Weekly Great CityGames.

The 29-year-old is due to continue her comeback by contesting the two field events at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium at an event she last competed at in 2011.

“I am really looking forward to competing in the Loughborough International – it is always a good meet for me at the start of the season,” said Ennis-Hill, who before Saturday had not competed since July 2013 after injury struggles and then giving birth to her son, Reggie.

“I was happy with my run over the hurdles on Saturday in Manchester and the chance to compete in the long jump and javelin a week later will give us a really clear picture of how things are shaping up.

“It is very good to be back competing again and I hope lots of local people will come and support us all next Sunday.”

Ennis-Hill is due to make her heptathlon return at the Gotzis Hypo Meeting at the end of May.

The Wales and Scotland teams for the Loughborough International have also been named so far, with Commonwealth pole vault silver medallist Sally Peake and world 110m hurdles bronze medallist David Omoregie among those on the Wales team and European and Commonwealth medallists Lynsey Sharp and Eilidh Child included on the Scotland team.
