A look back at some performances from the past week at events including the Athens Marathon, Scottish 4K Championships and Heaton Harriers 10km

Road

Athens Marathon, Greece, November 9

Kenya’s Felix Kandie won in a course record time of 2:10:37, a PB which also improves the mark set by Italian Stefano Baldini who ran 2:10:55 in winning the 2004 Olympic Games.

It was a Kenyan double as Naomi Maiyo won the women’s race in 2:41:06 ahead of 2013 champion Nancy Rotich.

Seoul Marathon, Korea, November 9

Ethiopian Feyisa Bekele won his second marathon, clocking 2:07:43 to beat Kenyans Evans Kiplagat Chebet with 2:07:46 and Thomas Kiplagat with 2:07:52 - both times PBs. There was also a personal best for Ukraine’s Sergiy Lebid as he ran 2:08:32 which puts him second on the 2014 European rankings behind Mo Farah.

Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes, Nice, France, November 9

Ethiopia s Shume Hailu and Kenya s Rose Jepchumba were victorious with times of 2:09:27 and a 2:33:52 PB respectively.

Best European in the women’s race was Britain’s Alison Greggor from who ran 2:52:10 for sixth.

Heaton Harriers 10km, November 9

Alyson Dixon (pictured) set a women’s course record of 34:06 while Newcastle-based Ethiopian Tadele Geremew was a runaway winner of the men’s race in 30:56.

Cross country

Scottish 4K Championships, Bellahouston Park, November 9

Rhona Auckland and Andrew Butchart claimed individual victories.

Second in the senior women’s event was Madeleine Murray ahead of Laura Muir, while Butchart won from Dan Mulhare and Tewolde Mengisteab.

Central AC won the senior women s team crown but Inverclyde edged Central in the men s.

2XU Surrey League Div 1, Match 2, Lloyd Park, Croydon, Surrey, November 8

Paskar Owor narrowly won the men’s race from Kent’s Paul Pollock who led his team to another overwhelming team victory.

Various

Algarve Challenge, Portugal, November 5-9

European Masters W65 800m champion Ros Tabor won the 4-stage event decided on age-grading from World Masters 1500m W50 world record-holder Clare Elms.

The highlight for Tabor was her bettering the world masters mile record in her age group with a time of 6:12.3.
