Olympic heptathlon champion set to contest the 100m hurdles, 200m and long jump at the Diamond League meeting

Jessica Ennis-Hill is set to contest three events when she returns to London’s Olympic Stadium for the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games on July 24-25.

The Olympic heptathlon champion will make a decision as to whether she is ready to compete at next month’s IAAF World Championships in Beijing following her performances next weekend.

The 29-year-old, who returned to competitive action in May after the birth of her first child last year, secured her selection for the heptathlon in China after achieving the qualifying mark in Gotzis.

“I’m really excited to be competing on both days at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games,” said Ennis-Hill, with the 100m hurdles to be held on the Friday and the 200m and long jump taking place on the Saturday. “It’s been two years since I last competed in a Diamond League, the highest standard of competition in athletics.”

The Sheffield athlete added: “To be back competing at this level is a daunting test as it’s only my fourth competition of the year.

“The events will be tough with great international and domestic fields, but I need to find out if I will be ready for Beijing and then ultimately Rio.”

Ennis-Hill’s fellow Olympic champions Usain Bolt and Mo Farah are also set to compete on the Friday evening of the Anniversary Games, Bolt in the 100m and Farah in the 3000m.
