Brooks, the leading running brand, announces the winner of their Super 7 competition

Worcester runner Jenny Nesbitt has been selected by Brooks to become the final honorary member of the leading running brand’s Super 7 team.

Entries came flooding in after Athletics Weekly highlighted the opportunity for one female reader to complete the Super 7 – a team of talented athletes flying the flag for Brooks.

Nesbitt, who counts beating Paula Radcliffe in last September’s Worcester City 10km among her career highlights so far, joins Jessica Coulson, Mary Cullen, Lucy Hall, Sonia Samuels, Laura Whittle and Katrina Wootton on the Super 7 team and as part of her prize will receive training kit as well as race day kit.

Having received so many high-quality entries, Brooks made a final decision having been impressed with the 20-year-old’s passion and dedication to the sport as well as her true Run Happy spirit.

Jenny NesbittNesbitt has represented England at cross-country and placed 12th at this winter’s Inter-Counties in the senior event. Her successes on the roads include her Worcester City 10km win on her debut at the distance and a runner-up spot behind Jessica Judd in the under-17 race at the 2012 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon. She also boasts track PBs of 4:30.08 for 1500m, 9:31.93 for 3000m, 16:09.93 for 5000m and 34:02.34 for 10,000m, which she raced for the first time at the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs event in May.

“It is so great to have been selected as the winner and I feel proud that I have been chosen,” said Nesbitt. “I am really pleased that I have been given the opportunity to be the honorary seventh Super 7 member and to be alongside so many high-profile athletes is incredible.

“This win means a lot,” she added. “To be able to be associated with such a fantastic brand is amazing. Having kit provided by Brooks means that I can put my money towards other expenses such as travel and accommodation for races, physiotherapy and the correct nutrition – things that are vital to improving my performances and allowing me to achieve my goals.

“Each of the current Super 7 members have achieved amazing things so far in their careers and to be able to be alongside them is the next step in the right direction to achieving my dreams.”
