Bohdan Bondarenko, Mutaz Essa Barshim, Genzebe Dibaba, Greg Rutherford and Asha Philip are among the athletes in action in Oslo

The 50th anniversary edition of Oslo’s Bislett Games is set to once again stage one of the highlights of the Diamond League series when the event takes place on Thursday (June 11).

Held at the Bislett Stadium, which has witnessed more than 60 world records, Bislett was one of the Golden Four” series of meetings which was the forerunner to the Diamond League.

The Bislett Games itself could see a 28th senior world record with the likes of Genzebe Dibaba, Bohdan Bondarenko and Mutaz Essa Barshim among those in action.

Dibaba races the 5000m and will attempt to break the 14:11.15 world record mark run by her elder sister Tirunesh in the same stadium in 2008 after missing it by just eight seconds in Eugene.

The high jump is of its usual great standard as world and European champion Bondarenko and world indoor champion Barshim go up against Olympic champion Ivan Ukhov, Derek Drouin and Erik Kynard.

Two Olympic champions meet in the long jump as London Olympics winner Greg Rutherford, who jumped 8.35m to win in Birmingham, takes on the American who triumphed in the triple jump at the 2012 Games, Christian Taylor.

World triple jump champion Caterine Ibarguen faces a threat to her 24-meeting long winning streak in the shape of Russian Yekaterina Koneva. The Colombian needed a marginally windy jump of 15.18m to win in Eugene when they last met after Koneva recorded 15.04m.

In the 400m hurdles, world No.1 Kemi Adekoya will take on world champion Zuzana Hejnova, Birmingham winner Kaliese Spencer and Britain’s Eilidh Child, while after her fall in Rome and DQ in Birmingham, Jasmin Stowers is back trying to reassert her dominance in the 100m hurdles and takes on fellow Americans Brianna Rollins and Queen Harrison.

The ExxonMobil Dream Mile features three-time winner and world 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop, Ayanleh Souleiman and Silas Kiplagat, while Bernard Lagat could break his world masters record of 3:54.91.

The men s 400m surprisingly features as many as three Brits but no Lashawn Merritt or Kirani James as Matthew Hudson-Smith, Martyn Rooney and Delano Williams line up. Brits Laura Muir and Laura Weightman appear in the 1500m to face world champion Abeba Aregawi, while Steph Twell forms part of the 5000m field alongside Dibaba.

Asha Philip runs the 100m following her 11.10 earlier this year and faces Murielle Ahoure, who has recently clocked 10.81. Other Brits in action are Richard Kilty and James Ellington in the 200m, with world and European indoor 60m champion Kilty stepping up to race over the distance for the first time in over a year.

The Bislett Games Diamond League meeting will be shown live on British Eurosport 2 from 19:00 on Thursday June 11 for fans in the UK. athleticsweekly.com is the official sponsor of Eurosport s Diamond League coverage and you can click here for future schedule information
